Birley Carr will present 'Iolanthe' from 24th to 28th  March 2009  at 7-30pm in the Church Hall.  This is one of the most popular G&S shows  encompassing a 'battle of the sexes' between the Fairies and Peers of the House of Lords.  The operetta is essentially a comedy that contains  a wealth of 'well loved' music, an innovative set and  a strong cast of principals.  Come along to experience a 'fulfilling' evenings entertainment.  Tickets are now on sale from Helen on 01709 881962.  ONLY FEW TICKETS LEFT !!! WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY IS BEST OPTION

Grenoside Players will present 'Ladies Day' by Amanda Whittington from 23rd to 25th April 2009 in the community Centre at Grenoside at 7-30pm.

Work, love and life are just one long hard slog for four fish-filleting girls from Hull.  Their luck changes when they find tickets for 'Ladies Day' at Royal Ascot the year it relocated to York.  With its Yorkshire heart & soul, this exuberant comedy has all the warmth of Calendar Girls and promises an excellent evenings entertainment.

Both societies are located in Sheffield, about  6 Km north of the city centre. They present plays and operettas for the enjoyment of the local community.

Birley Carr Methodist Musical & Dramatic Society

The society rehearses and performs in the church hall on Foxhill  Road at Birley Carr, Sheffield 6.  The society has been established 60 years this year and performs a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta in March each year and normally a play each October.  The next presentation will be Iolanthe to be staged in March 2009.

Rehearsals  at 7-45pm each Thursday from October.  New members would be welcome and should contact the society webmaster regarding exact rehearsal dates.

 Grenoside Players

The players rehearse and perform at the Community Centre on Main Street, Grenoside, Sheffield 35.  This is located about 10 Km north of Sheffield city centre in a delightfully rural village setting.  The society has been established for around 50 years and presents two stage plays each year in May & November.

New members, either with or without acting experience, would be made very welcome.  Come and join us and help us to widen the range of plays that we can cast.

We invite you to visit both websites as they contain useful information for lovers of theatre, particularly the operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan and of stage play presentations.
